The Yamaha CD-S303 is a CD player with USB playback for compatible music files, alongside conventional audio CDs.

Separate power supplies for the motor, display, USB, digital and analogue sections reduce mutual interference. A centrally positioned transport balances the assembly, while short symmetrical signal paths reduce losses.

Pure Direct disables the digital audio output and turns off the display during playback. Use the analogue RCA outputs for this mode.

A 192 kHz / 24-bit DAC converts the digital signal to analogue. The laser mechanism is isolated from vibration. Intelligent Digital Servo adjusts tracking, focus and spindle speed.

Main Features

• Supports audio CDs and finalized CD-R/CD-RW discs. CD-Text displays album, artist and track information.
• USB storage requires FAT16/FAT32; encrypted drives and DRM-protected files are unsupported. Files play in creation-date order.
• Random playback and repeat modes cover a track, folder or the entire medium.
• Program up to 24 tracks from one audio CD or repeat an A-B section. Neither function applies to data discs or USB, and A-B is unavailable with Pure Direct.
• Ready mode pauses after each track. Automatic playback can start when the player powers on or the source changes.
• Playback Mode Memory retains repeat and random settings; after power-on, the last track restarts from the beginning. Automatic standby activates after 20 minutes without operation following playback stop.
• The display shows elapsed or remaining time and offers 4 brightness levels.
• The audio circuit uses a selected capacitor and low-noise op-amp. Damping material is placed beneath the transformer and around signal cables.
• The remote operates within 6 m and uses 2 AA batteries. Power and RCA leads are detachable.
