The Yamaha A-S201 is an integrated amplifier. Its analogue inputs accept CD players, line-level sources and turntables fitted with an MM cartridge.

Short signal paths and a power transformer positioned near the power amplifier reduce signal and power losses. Single-point signal and power grounding reduces mutual interference.

Pure Direct bypasses the tone, balance and buffer amplifier circuits. The display turns off after a few seconds, and bass, treble and balance controls are disabled.

Front-panel controls select the source, volume and A/B speaker outputs. The remote can also operate compatible Yamaha CD players and tuners, with available functions depending on the connected model.

Main Features

• The Phono MM input accepts a turntable with an MM cartridge without a separate phono preamp.
• A/B or A+B selection supports one or both speaker pairs. Two terminal sets also support bi-wiring, subject to the specified impedance requirements.
• Screw-type speaker terminals provide secure cable connections. The enclosure has a hairline finish.
• The menu lets you limit maximum volume and set the initial volume at power-on. A sleep timer switches the amplifier to standby after the selected interval.
• Automatic standby can be set to 2/4/8/12 hours of inactivity or disabled.
• The REC output carries the selected source except LINE 2. Volume, tone, balance and Pure Direct settings do not affect the recorded signal.
• The remote operates within 6 m and uses 2 AA batteries.
