Trace Elliot Transformer DI is a passive DI box.

A 1:1 audio transformer with an ultra-high-permeability nickel-iron core converts unbalanced line signals to balanced signals, or balanced signals to unbalanced. Its passive circuit needs no battery or external power.

Designed for low- to medium-impedance signal sources, the box accepts input levels up to +22.2 dBu. It can interface compatible instrument outputs as well as line-level signal paths.

The transformer galvanically isolates its input and output circuits. Ground Lift disconnects the signal ground link to address hum caused by a ground loop between connected devices, with additional radio-frequency rejection circuitry.

Both input and output offer XLR and 6.35 mm connections. Specified insertion loss is below 1 dB, with frequency-response variation within ±1 dB from 14 Hz to 80 kHz. Its low-frequency extension is useful for bass instruments, including five-string bass.
