Description
Takamine GD74CE-12U Electro-Acoustic Twelve-String Guitar
The Takamine GD74CE-12U is a brand new (2025) engineering solution designed to withstand the increased tension that arises when using non-standard string tunings. While conventional 12-string guitars feature octave-tuned bass pairs, this model is purpose-built for musicians who use two pairs of strings of the same thickness (in unison), as is common in certain Latin American music styles.
The guitar features a Spruce top, reinforced with a special Double-X braced system, which allows it to safely withstand the additional string load. The back and sides are made of visually striking Flame Maple, which adds brightness and "sparkle" to the sound. The neck is also made of maple to ensure maximum structural integrity.
The instrument delivers a powerful, vibrant, and melodic sound. Its integrated TP-3G electronics make it easy to transfer this unique sound to the stage. The appearance is complemented by special wooden binding, a "reverse mountain" inlay at the 12th fret, and a striking pearloid pickguard.
