The sE Electronics X1 S is a cardioid large-diaphragm condenser microphone for recording vocals, acoustic instruments, guitar cabinets, drums and room sound. Its hand-built and individually tuned 1-inch true-condenser capsule is designed for studio work with both quiet and very loud sources.

The cardioid polar pattern concentrates pickup at the front and reduces sound arriving from behind the microphone. An all-metal housing protects the electronics and helps reject electrical interference, while the gold-plated 3-pin XLR connector carries the analogue microphone signal. The X1 S must be connected to a microphone input providing 48 V phantom power.

The two-stage attenuation pad provides -10 dB and -20 dB settings, raising maximum sound-pressure handling to 150 or 160 dB SPL respectively. The 80 Hz and 160 Hz low-cut settings help reduce floor vibration, low-frequency rumble or excessive proximity-effect bass. This product is the single microphone, so accessories from the Studio Bundle and Vocal Pack are not included.
