The sE Electronics X1 A is a cardioid condenser microphone for recording vocals and a broad range of acoustic and electric instruments. The manufacturer recommends it for vocals, acoustic guitar, electric-guitar cabinets, piano, woodwinds, brass, strings, drum kit, room capture and drum overheads.

It uses a 2/3-inch back-electret condenser capsule. The cardioid polar pattern concentrates pickup at the front and reduces sound arriving from the rear, so the front of the microphone must face the source. An all-metal housing helps protect the electronics from electrical interference, while an integrated acoustic windscreen reduces wind and plosive noise.

A switchable -20 dB pad accommodates louder sources, and the 100 Hz low-cut filter reduces floor vibration, low-frequency rumble and excessive proximity-effect bass. The X1 A connects through 3-pin XLR and requires 48 V phantom power. This product is the single-microphone version, not a Studio Bundle or another package.
