Description
sE Electronics T2 Large-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone (Matched Pair)
The sE Electronics T2 is a large-diaphragm true condenser microphone built around a hand-crafted 1" titanium-sputtered capsule. Titanium is significantly stiffer and three times lighter than gold, producing a faster transient response that maintains clarity and accuracy on sources with rapid attack — drums, percussion, and plucked or struck instruments. Four switchable polar patterns (cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, figure-8), two low-cut filters, and two attenuation pads are controlled via metal switches on an all-metal die-cast body with a rugged spring steel wire mesh grille.
The Matched Pair configuration includes two T2 microphones that have been rigorously tested and sonically matched in-house to ensure virtually identical frequency response — a requirement for reliable stereo work. The included custom shockmount features a flat, round-edged chassis that centres the microphone within the suspension and allows close-miking positions flat against a drum head or cabinet, providing isolation from low-frequency rumble and footfall vibration.
Key Features
- Titanium-sputtered capsule: Hand-crafted 1" true condenser capsule with a titanium-sputtered Mylar diaphragm. Titanium is stiffer and lighter than gold, resulting in a quicker transient response and exceptional accuracy on fast-attack sources.
- Four switchable polar patterns: Cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8, selected via metal switches for precision-based miking and rejection of unwanted sources.
- Dual low-cut filters: Switchable 40 Hz and 80 Hz high-pass filters at 6 dB/Oct to tame low-frequency rumble and proximity effect.
- Dual attenuation pads: Switchable -10 dB and -20 dB pads extend the dynamic range for handling loud sources up to 157 dBSPL.
- Factory-matched pair: Both microphones are tuned and sonically matched in-house for a virtually identical frequency response, essential for consistent stereo recording.
- Custom close-miking shockmount: Flat, round-edged chassis design allows the microphone to be positioned flush against a drum head or guitar cabinet, with suspension isolation from mechanical vibration.
- All-metal construction: Die-cast metal housing, metal switches, and spring steel wire mesh grille built for demanding studio use and touring environments.

Who Is It For?
- Drum and percussion recording: The titanium capsule's fast transient response makes the T2 well suited for overheads, hi-hats, toms, and other percussion sources where attack clarity is critical.
- Stereo miking of acoustic instruments: The factory-matched pair ensures consistent frequency response across both microphones, making it reliable for stereo piano, acoustic guitar, orchestral strings, and woodwind recording.
- Close-miking of loud sources: With pads reaching -20 dB and max SPL handling up to 157 dBSPL, the T2 handles guitar cabinets, brass, and drums at close range without distortion.
- Studio engineers requiring pattern flexibility: Four switchable polar patterns support a broad range of applications, from tight spot-miking in hypercardioid to room capture in omnidirectional, within a single microphone.
