Description
sE Electronics T2 Large-Diaphragm Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone
The sE Electronics T2 is a large-diaphragm true-condenser microphone with four switchable polar patterns and a hand-crafted titanium-sputtered dual-diaphragm capsule. Titanium is much stiffer and three times lighter than gold, giving the T2 a faster transient response than gold-sputtered capsules: essential for recording instruments with fast attack such as drums, percussion, and plucked strings. Four patterns (cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8) are selectable via metal switches, covering the full range of studio and live miking techniques in a single microphone.
The T2 is built to the same physical standard as its gold-capsule sibling, the sE4400: die-cast all-metal housing, spring steel wire mesh grille, and metal switches throughout, with no plastic components in the signal path. A switchable attenuation pad (-10 or -20 dB) extends maximum SPL handling to 157 dB, and the two-position low-cut filter (40 or 80 Hz, 6 dB/octave) handles proximity effect and low-frequency rumble at source. The flat, round-edged chassis and custom suspension shockmount allow the microphone to be positioned flush against a drum head or guitar cabinet, or angled inside a kick drum shell.
Key Features
- Four switchable polar patterns: Cardioid, hypercardioid, omnidirectional, and figure-8, selected via metal switches on the body.
- Hand-crafted titanium-sputtered dual-diaphragm capsule: Titanium is much stiffer and three times lighter than gold, delivering a faster transient response for percussive and attack-driven sources.
- Switchable attenuation pad: -10 or -20 dB, selectable via metal switch. Extends maximum SPL to 157 dB.
- Switchable low-cut filter: 40 or 80 Hz at 6 dB/octave, selectable via metal switch. Addresses proximity effect and low-frequency rumble.
- Dent-proof all-metal housing: Die-cast metal body with spring steel wire mesh grille, metal switches, and premium finish. No plastic components.
- Custom close-miking shockmount: Flat, round-edged chassis fits centered within the shockmount and can be placed flush against a drum head or guitar cabinet, or angled inside a kick drum. Isolates from low-end rumble and footfall noise.
- Available as a matched stereo pair: The T2 is also sold in a factory-matched configuration with stereo mounting bar and two shockmounts.

Who Is It For?
- Studio engineers needing multi-pattern flexibility: Four polar patterns in one microphone cover spot miking, room recording, mid-side setups, and two-source recording without changing microphones.
- Drum and percussion recording: The titanium capsule's fast transient response captures attack with accuracy; the close-miking shockmount design supports kick drum, snare, and tom placement.
- Live sound engineers: The roadworthy all-metal construction and hypercardioid pattern option provide isolation and durability for demanding live environments.
- Acoustic instrument and vocal recording: Omnidirectional and figure-8 patterns combined with 157 dB max SPL and a 40 Hz low-cut cover a wide range of acoustic sources from quiet strings to fortissimo brass.
