The sE Electronics RF-X is a stand-mounted acoustic filter designed to reduce reflections returning to a microphone from walls and other room surfaces. It is intended for recording vocals, speech, acoustic guitar, drums and other sources in rooms without comprehensive acoustic treatment.

Its curved body uses four layers: a vented composite outer panel, wool fabric, an air gap and inner acoustic foam. These layers absorb and diffuse part of the sound arriving from behind the microphone. The RF-X is not a soundproof booth and does not replace room isolation; its purpose is to control early reflections around the microphone.

The supplied adjustable hardware changes the microphone distance and height relative to the filter. sE recommends a conventional vertical microphone stand. A boom stand can be used only when the complete assembly is carefully balanced. The microphone, microphone mount, stand and cable are not included.
