The sE Electronics DM1 Dynamite is an active single-channel inline microphone preamplifier for passive dynamic and passive ribbon microphones. Placed between a microphone and a mic preamp, mixer or audio interface, it provides a fixed +28 dB of gain.

The DM1 uses Class-A circuitry with selected FETs. Its dedicated output buffer lowers the output impedance, helping the microphone signal travel reliably through longer cable runs. The metal housing and gold-plated 3-pin XLR connectors suit studio, broadcast and live-sound use.

The unit draws 48 V phantom power from the following microphone input but does not pass that power to the microphone. It is therefore unsuitable for condenser microphones and active ribbon microphones. The DM1 plugs directly into the microphone, with an XLR cable running from the DM1 to the preamp or interface.

Who Is It For

The DM1 suits low-output passive microphones when an interface or mixer preamp needs additional clean gain. It requires a microphone input with 48 V phantom power switched on. Do not use it with condenser or active ribbon microphones that need phantom power to reach the microphone itself.
