The sE Electronics BL8 is a true-condenser boundary microphone for use inside kick drums and on cajon, piano, speech, conference tables, room ambience and stage floors. Its half-cardioid pattern is designed for placement on, or flush with, a boundary surface.

The BL8 uses a hand-built small-diaphragm capsule with a 3 μm gold-sputtered diaphragm, based on the capsule used in the sE8. Transformerless Class-A electronics, an all-metal body and a dent-resistant grille support high-SPL work. A three-position voicing switch provides neutral, Classic and Modern modes.

The -10/-20 dB pad accommodates very loud sources, while the 80/160 Hz low-cut filter helps control vibration and excessive low-frequency energy. The capsule can be replaced with the separately available sE8 omnidirectional capsule. The BL8 is also compatible with the Kelly Shu Flatz system; neither the omni capsule nor the isolation system is included.

Who Is It For
