Samson QEx is a condenser headset microphone developed for fitness instructors and active performers. Its lightweight dual-ear frame uses an adjustable, removable headband strap to keep the headset in place during movement, while a stainless-steel gooseneck positions the capsule beside the mouth.

The bidirectional capsule is most sensitive at the front and rear and rejects more sound at its sides. When oriented correctly, this can separate the voice from part of the surrounding sound and provide more gain before feedback than an omnidirectional design. The element should not be placed directly in the breath path.

The QEx connects to a wireless bodypack transmitter. Four 1.2 m cables are supplied with 3.5 mm, Hirose 4-pin, Switchcraft TA3F, and Switchcraft TA4F connectors. The pin wiring and the transmitter’s 1-5 V DC supply must be checked before use; a connector that physically fits does not by itself confirm compatibility.

Samson specifies a 50 Hz to 12 kHz frequency response, 110 dB maximum SPL, and a product weight of 39.8 g. The headset is described as water- and sweat-resistant, but no formal IP rating is stated, so it should not be immersed or washed under running water.

Who Is It For
