Samson MCD2 Pro is a two-channel passive direct box designed to connect the unbalanced stereo output of a laptop, phone, media player, or DJ mixer to balanced inputs in a professional sound system. Its passive circuit needs neither a battery nor phantom power, making it straightforward to deploy at events, installations, and recording sessions.

The input panel accepts a pair of 1/4-inch TS sources, left and right RCA connections, or a single 1/8-inch stereo mini jack. Two balanced XLR outputs feed microphone inputs on a console, stage box, or audio interface. A Stereo/Mono switch can preserve separate left and right channels or sum the source when the receiving system is mono.

Two Samson STLX transformers use Mu-Metal shielding to isolate the source and protect the audio path from hum and radio-frequency interference. The Ground Lift switch disconnects XLR pin 1 when a ground loop causes noise, while the 0 dB/-12 dB pad creates headroom for hotter line-level signals.

A 14-gauge steel chassis protects the connectors, switches, and transformers in mobile use. The MCD2 Pro does not provide Thru outputs. If the source must also feed a local monitor or headphone system, that split needs to be made before the DI box or handled by separate routing hardware.
