The KRK S12.4 is a powered studio subwoofer designed to extend the frequency range of studio monitors for mixing, mastering, music production, and detailed evaluation of low-frequency content.

Its 12-inch low-frequency driver features a Kevlar® aramid-fibre composite cone and a 2.5-inch voice coil. The design provides controlled low-frequency reproduction, while the extended 23–130 Hz frequency range reveals information that smaller studio monitors cannot reproduce.

The integrated Class D amplifier delivers 220 W of continuous power and a maximum peak SPL of 119.9 dB. The front-firing bass reflex port extends low-frequency reproduction, reduces interaction with nearby room boundaries, and is shaped to minimise airflow noise.

A four-position crossover control allows the S12.4 to be matched with KRK or third-party studio monitors. The bypass function, operated using an optional footswitch, disables the subwoofer and high-pass filter while sending a full-range signal to the monitors. This allows quick comparisons with and without the subwoofer’s contribution.

Left and right XLR, 1/4-inch TRS, and RCA inputs and outputs allow the subwoofer to be integrated into different studio systems. A dedicated balanced 1/4-inch TRS LFE input is also provided, while volume, input sensitivity, polarity, and ground-lift controls support accurate system setup.
