DPA 4017ES is a condenser shotgun microphone with an active cable.

Its interference design focuses pickup toward a chosen source. It suits film or broadcast recording where sound from the sides must be reduced.

The 3 m cable exits from the side of the capsule interface and can run along a nearby surface. The 4017ER has rear entry instead.

A 3-pin XLR connector at the cable end carries P48 phantom power. DPA specifies a 125 mm microphone section, shorter than the 4017B body, a 121 g configuration weight and a typical 13 dB(A) equivalent noise level.
