DPA 4017ER is a condenser shotgun microphone with an active cable.

Its interference design focuses pickup toward a chosen source. This is useful for boomed or suspended microphone placement on a film set.

The 3 m cable leaves the rear of the capsule interface. It can be routed behind the microphone; the 4017ES version has side entry.

The cable ends in a 3-pin XLR connector for P48 phantom-powered equipment. DPA specifies a 125 mm microphone body, 121 g weight, typical 13 dB(A) equivalent noise level and a 138 dB SPL peak limit at 10% THD.
