Check both diameter and depth
The drum’s size in inches helps identify a suitable case, but diameter is only one measurement. Snares with the same diameter can have different depths. When checking the available internal space, allow for hoops, tensioning hardware and other protruding parts. The case should close without pressure on the instrument and keep it supported inside.
Cymbals, percussion and marching drums
Choose a cymbal case by the largest cymbal diameter and the number it is designed to hold. The percussion range includes cases for cajons, djembes, bongos, congas and other instruments. These are shaped for particular uses; matching a diameter does not make a case suitable for a different instrument. Marching drum cases also need to match the drum type and dimensions.
